What to Expect from A Freightliner Cascadia® Test Drive

Apr 19, 2023 | Pre-owned Trucks, Trucks For Sale, Used Trucks For Sale | 0 comments

You can expect two things when you drive a Freightliner Cascadia®; fun and excitement. You will love the ride and get a feel of the engine’s power, the smoothness of the transmission and the ride quality.

Before you take it on the road, you will notice the truck’s aerodynamics and should take note of the cab extenders, which are there to close the air gap between the cab and trailer. The side skirts will help improve airflow around the fuel tanks and to the wheels, and the aero mirrors will complement the aerodynamics of the cab and hood.

Pre-Flight Check

It is highly recommended that you do a complete walk around the truck before or after your Freightliner Cascadia® test drive. Open the hood, and check out the oil dipstick, coolant level, power steering fluid level, belts and hoses. Next, check the tires and look at the brakes. If there are components or aspects you don’t recognize, ask the dealership to gain a better understanding of the truck. If satisfied with the answers, you can climb inside the truck to begin your Cascadia® test drive.

The grab handles will assist you in entering the cab, and when you sit in the seat for the first time, you will notice it is one of the most ergonomic seats a factory will install. This is a standard feature, and once your close the door, you will also notice that the Freightliner Cascadia® has an excellent insulation package, which will not only help with temperature control but will act to soundproof as well. Make any necessary adjustments and get comfortable in your seat to ensure a wonderful driving experience.

During your test drive, compare the ride and feel of the handling and ask yourself if it differs from what you’re used to. Consider any safety enhancements like lane departure warning or adaptive cruise that you may not be used to and have the dealer explain how they work and demonstrate them when it is safe to do so. As you start your Cascadia® test drive, you will notice the transmission skipping gears because it is designed to do just that; getting you to cruising speed as efficiently and quickly as possible.

Set your cruise and enjoy the ride!

The ideal test drive will last ten to fifteen miles to get the Cascadia® up to operating temperature; you will get a good feel of everything, including the heater and air conditioning operation while driving.
